When an Airport Transfer Is Worth the Money
By Tomáš Dvořák · Published 2025-12-15
Taxis, private transfers, public transport: a short guide to not overpaying for the first 30 minutes of your trip.
The maths is simple. If public transport costs under €10 per person and your hotel is near a station, take it. If you're a group of 3–4 with luggage, a private transfer often costs the same as the taxi meter would.
Pre-booked transfers shine at three moments: very early flights, very late arrivals, and cities with aggressive taxi pricing (Prague and Rome airports, we're looking at you).
Fixed price is the point. A pre-booked transfer can't surge, can't take the long route, and the driver tracks your flight — if it's late, he waits.
Our rule of thumb: city breaks under €300 total — public transport. Beach holidays with luggage and kids — transfer. Business trips — always transfer.
