All-Inclusive or Independent? The Honest Breakdown
By Karolína Nováková · Published 2025-11-20
When a package saves money, when it quietly doesn't, and how to decide in ten minutes.
All-inclusive wins when you'll genuinely stay at the resort: beach weeks with kids, diving holidays on remote atolls, anywhere restaurants are scarce or pricey.
It loses when the destination is the point. In Istanbul, Rome or Marrakech, half the value is eating and drinking in the city — a meal-plan hotel works against you.
Do the ten-minute test: price the same trip without board, then add realistic daily food costs. If the all-inclusive premium is under €25 per person per day, it usually pays off.
One trap: drinks packages. They only pay off above roughly four drinks a day. Most travellers don't reach it, and it quietly doubles the bill.
